      In this series, we cover the essentials to ensure that you can hit the ground running.

      In the final video of this series, let's have a look at the Sparta for Excel add-in.

      Sparta Curves: Excel Add-In Overview

      Welcome to the final video in the Sparta Curves onboarding series. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the Sparta for Excel add-in, which brings real-time forward pricing data directly into your Excel environment—seamlessly integrated with your existing Sparta setup.

      Getting Started

      To install the plugin:

      1. Open the Microsoft Office Add-in Store

      2. Search for Sparta Commodities

      3. Select Sparta for Excel and click Add

      Note: If you’re unable to install the add-in, your Excel installation may be IT-managed. In that case, contact your internal IT team for access.

      Once installed:

      • Open the login panel and sign in with your Sparta web credentials

      • The add-in automatically syncs with your Sparta account and retrieves your existing portfolios

      There’s no need to recreate anything—your portfolios (diesel, jet, or custom baskets) are instantly available in Excel.

      Navigating the Interface

      After selecting and adding your desired portfolios:

      • Excel will generate dedicated tabs for each one

      • Each sheet displays live pricing data from your configured curves

      Color-coded markers indicate the data source:

      • Blue for Provider 1

      • Red for Provider 2

      • Gray when only one source is available

      All values update in real time.

      Building Custom Portfolios

      You can also build portfolios from scratch directly in Excel:

      • Go to the “Add Products” section

      • Search by product or select your preferred swap provider

      • Click “Add” to include products in your workbook—everything updates live

      Use the “Month Column” option to include tenor labels such as contract months.

      Each data point is powered by a Sparta-specific live formula. These formulas can be:

      • Copied and pasted across your sheets

      • Repositioned or extended for custom views

      For example, you can isolate specific contracts like Balance of Month or May 2025 MO1 and position them anywhere—live updates continue uninterrupted.

      Managing Real-Time Feeds

      To pause the live feed:

      • Use the “Pause” function to disconnect from live updates

      • Resume by selecting “Live” again

      • Or customize update intervals to every 2 or 5 seconds, depending on your needs
